The Courier Restaurant
The Courier Restaurant offers an exceptional culinary experience. Run by Chef Patron Wolfgang Wollauz with over 30 years experience in the culinary environment, the Courier was originally located in Parkview where it was voted one of South Africa’s top restaurants. Wolfgang then moved to the prestigious Quartermain Hotel in Morningside where his reputation as a Chef of note continued. Now located at the Swiss Club, Wolfgang continues to offer a menu with plenty of Alpine specialities.
The Swiss Club is located in a quiet street in Vorna Valley and has undergone a complete renovation with a new look interior that is light, spacious and versatile in its appeal. The main restaurant features a vibrant red and white colour scheme as well as a large outside terrace with tables and umbrellas for al fresco dining. You can enjoy pre or post dinner drinks at the Swiss styled bar area, or relax with a coffee in the well appointed lounge. With conference facilities for 80 people, easy accessibility from the highway, and plenty of secure on-site parking, it is an ideal corporate venue too. Weddings and other functions are well catered for with facilities for up to 200 guests, as well as an attractive enclosed garden. The restaurant combines a fine dining experience with all the pleasures of a relaxed and tranquil environment.
The bar and terrace menu offers well priced wholesome meals such as bratwurst and rosti with onion gravy and the famous Courier Club sandwich. Main menu recommendations are the snails in pastry, beef tartar served with spicy condiments, and the pork schnitzel served with potato salad or French fries. For dessert the apple strudel is highly recommended and such is its popularity that patrons regular place orders for large quantities for home consumption!
